PRI: Panchayati Raj Institutions
The full form of PRI is “Panchayati Raj Institutions”. Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI) is a system of local self-government of villages in rural India as opposed to urban and suburban municipalities. Local Self Government is the management of local affairs by such local bodies who have been elected by the local people. The modern Panchayati Raj system was introduced in India by the 73rd constitutional amendment in 1992 to build democracy at the grassroots level and was entrusted with the task of rural development in the country.
What is Panchayati Raj?
Panchayati Raj is a three-tier structure of the Indian administration for rural development. The Three-tiers of the Panchayati Raj system are Gram Panchayat, Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad. Currently, the Panchayati Raj system exists in all states except Nagaland, Meghalaya, and Mizoram, and in all Union Territories except Delhi. Ministry of Panchayati Raj looks into all matters relating to the Panchayati Raj and Panchayati Raj Institutions. The ministry is created in May 2004 and is headed by a minister of cabinet rank.
PRI: Primary Rate Interface
In Telecommunications, PRI full form is “Primary Rate Interface”. It is a telecommunications interface standard primarily used in Integrated Services Digital Networks (ISDNs). A PRI is a form of TDM, allowing you to send up to 23 separate communications via voice, data, or video. With a PRI-enabled communications solution, multiple users can have extensions and numbers on a single connection. Physically, PRI lines are comprised of two pairs of copper wires that provide the duplex capability. The duplex capability allows secure data transmission from two of these wires to be received by the other two.
