1) RIP: Rest In Peace
The full form of RIP is Rest In Peace. Nowadays most people use this word on social media. This means that God may give peace to the soul of the deceased. The term RIP is mostly used in Christianity because they do not burn corpses but bury them. In Christianity, they are buried after a man dies, and RIP is a phrase written on their grave that wishes to give them peace to the soul when they die.
It is called rest in peace (RIP) because we know that when people die, it is like resting for them. We use the word RIP in sad situations, that is to say, use this word only when someone dies. The word comes from the Latin language Requiescat in pace. RIP is used in different ways, such as Rest in Peace (most people use this term) and Return if Possible.
2) RIP: Routing Information Protocol
Another full form of RIP is Routing Information Protocol. It is used in computer protocols. It is one of the oldest distance-vector routing protocols. It was designed for use on small networks. RIP uses hop count to determine the best path between two locations and prevents routing loops by imposing a limit on the number of hops. The maximum hop number allowed for RIP is 15 and a hop count of 16 is considered as network inaccessible. RIP works well in small networks, but it does not work well with large networks and slow WAN links. RIP uses User Datagram Protocol (UDP) as its transport protocol and RIP is assigned port number 520. RIP is a widely used protocol for managing router information within a local area network (LAN) or a group of LANs.
3) RIP: Raster Image Processor
Raster image processor (RIP) is a component / part used in a printing system that creates a raster image (also known as a bitmap). Such a bitmap is used to produce the printed output by a later stage of the printing system.
