TLC: Total Leukocyte Count

https://fullform.blog/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/tlc.mp3

The full form of TLC is “Total Leukocyte Count“. Leukocytes are white blood cells that defend our body against infections and diseases. They can decrease in number in certain diseases, making the body prone to infections. A blood test report includes several results about our range of complete blood count (CBC), platelets, hemoglobin (Hb), red blood cells (RBC), white blood cells (WBC), etc. Among them, a total Total Leukocyte Count (TLC) or WBC is measured to determine if there is an infectious process and it should vary between 4000 and 11,000 cells/mm. An increase in the number of TLCs, called leukocytosis, increases in conditions such as cancer, certain bacterial infections, etc. A reduced baseline TLCs count called leukopenia decreases in conditions such as tuberculosis, smoking, infections, etc.
