The full form of NSE is National Stock Exchange. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) is the leading stock exchange of India. It is the fourth largest in the world (based on equity trading volume). It was the first stock exchange in India to offer a screen-based system for trading. NSE conducts transactions in the wholesale debt, equity, and derivative markets. One of the more popular offerings is the NIFTY 50 Index, which tracks the largest assets in the Indian equity market. As on February 2022 Mr. Girish Chandra Chaturvedi is the Chairperson and Mr. Vikram Limaye is the MD and CEO of NSE. Former NSE CEO Chitra Ramkrishna was selected as the woman of the year in the Business Leadership Awards by Forbes magazine in 2013. The vision of NSE is to ‘Continue to be a leader, establish global presence, facilitate the financial well being of people’.
It is relatively young and is the biggest stock exchange. A front runner in the introduction of the fully automated, electronic trading system across the country.
It is the oldest stock exchange of India.
