POK: Pakistan Occupied Kashmir
The full form of POK is “Pakistan Occupied Kashmir“. Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) is the name used by India for the portion of Kashmir that is under Pakistan’s administration. It consists of the so-called Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan. Until the mid-19th century, the term “Kashmir” denoted only the Kashmir Valley between the Great Himalayas and the Pir Panjal Range. Today, it denotes a larger area that includes the Indian-administered territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, the Pakistani-administered territories of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, and Chinese-administered territories of Aksai Chin and the Trans-Karakoram Tract. After 1947 and 1962 war India has control of about half the area of the former princely state of Jammu and Kashmir, which continues the name Jammu and Kashmir, while Pakistan controls a third of the region, divided into two de facto provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.
