It is compatible with all browsers and was primarily designed to separate document content from document presentation.

CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is a fundamental technology of the World Wide Web (WWW), along with HTML and JavaScript. In addition to HTML, other markup languages support the use of CSS, including XHTML, plain XML, SVG, and XUL. The cascading name comes from the specified priority scheme to determine which style rule applies if more than one rule matches a specific element. This cascading priority scheme is predictable.
