It is a multinational technology and IT consulting organization founded on June 16, 1911 by Charles Ranlett Flint and Thomas J. Watson. Its headquarter is in Armonk, New York and its current CEO is Arvind Krishna. IBM was named by Thomas John Watson Sr. To one-up them in all respects, he called his company International Business Machines. IBM originated from the bringing together of several companies that worked to automate routine business transactions, including the first companies to build punched card-based data tabulating machines and to build time clocks. In 1911, these companies were merged into the Computing-Tabulating-Recording Company (CTR).
