CSS: Cascading Style Sheets
The full form of CSS is Cascading Style Sheets. It is a style sheet language used to specify how web pages written in a markup language such as HTML should be displayed. CSS allows website designers to add style to web pages and have more control over the appearance of a web page, such as fonts, colors, spaces, etc. It is a powerful tool for web designers to change the design and control over web pages that how it should be displayed. It is compatible with all browsers and was primarily designed to separate document content from document presentation.
CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is a fundamental technology of the World Wide Web (WWW), along with HTML and JavaScript. In addition to HTML, other markup languages support the use of CSS, including XHTML, plain XML, SVG, and XUL. The cascading name comes from the specified priority scheme to determine which style rule applies if more than one rule matches a specific element. This cascading priority scheme is predictable. CSS specifications are maintained by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). CSS comes in three types:
- In a separate file (external)
- At the top of a web page document (internal)
- Right next to the text it decorates (inline)
