MRCS: Member of the Royal College of Surgeons
The full form of MRCS is Member of the Royal College of Surgeons. MRCS is a two-part exam conducted for surgical trainees to gain RCS (UK) membership. It is like a beginner’s degree to enter into a career in surgery. It is similar to qualifying for your NEET PG entrance exam. India is facing an 84% shortage of qualified surgeons. With rising population and deteriorating health conditions due to lifestyle factors increases the demand for qualified doctors. MRCS exams can be tough and students with experience in surgical departments tend to perform better. It determines whether a surgical trainee possesses the correct knowledge, skills and attributes to complete basic training and progress to higher levels of specialist surgical training. Indian students who have completed the MBBS program are eligible for this exam.
